My students need materials they can use in small group centers to support developing English fluency.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Rossi's classroom raised $780
This project is fully funded
My Students
My urban classroom is full of ready-to-learn middle school students who are looking to grow academically and in their language skills. In my school, over 92% of students are classified as low income, 35% are English Language Learners and 25% receive Special Education services. They are motivated to succeed and love having DonorsChoose projects, especially those that they lead, to enhance their learning in very meaningful ways.
Our school district does not have a budget in place, much have less extra funds for greatly needed supplies for ELLs.
DonorsChoose supporters help bring my student the language learning tools they need to succeed!
My Project
In my classroom, my English Language Learners have a wide range of abilities. But that does not stop us from learning and playing educational games together!
Some students are struggling with idiomatic phrases or preposition use while others are still mastering their sight words.
This project is designed to give the students the tools they need to support communicative learning. Students will work at centers that meet their targeted needs. With a partner or a small group, students will discuss, write and collaborate their way to a stronger mastery of English.
My newcomer and beginner students will work their way through their sight words and create strong sentences with the frames provided in Creating Sight-Word Sentences. Intermediate and advanced learners will study homophones and multiple meaning words. We can all come together to play games from the Games Library.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
