Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our newcomers/beginner English language learners at P.S. 149Q are eager to learn English and we need your help! As an English as a new language teacher, I am excited to support my student groups that range from grades K-2.
I would like to use play sandwich food to teach sequencing words and promote basic conversations.
I would use the taco/tortilla play food to build a mini restaurant where students will learn vocabulary, work to write labels for the food, and engage in conversations in their designated roles. In addition, the magnetic tiles will be used to support conversations through play on fun Friday’s.
Lastly, the activity kits will be used to build and reinforce listening, reading, writing, and speaking skills in English. These items would help give these students the language support they need to succeed. We are grateful for your support!
