This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am an English as a Second Language Teacher in an urban K-5 elementary school. I teach students who have just arrived in the country, as well as, students who have lived here for several years. Approximately 75% of our students are considered English Language Leaners, the primary language spoken in their homes in not English. Due to this high percentage, we are always trying to figure out ways to be more organized and efficient teachers. Our students are eager to learn and we love teaching them!
My Project
A small group, four students, can use the four iPad minis while the teacher is teaching another small group. Students get excited about learning English and love using technology, this is the perfect combination to promote student success. Students will use the iPad minis to reinforce previously taught listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. In order for students to master skills that have been introduced by the teacher, they need opportunities to practice. Learning English and utilizing technology will allow students to become college and career ready. The IPads will allow students the opportunity to practice English and have fun learning!
