This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember your Kindergarten experience? How about the excitement or nervousness of walking through the door and finally being at a "big" school? I want to create a classroom community that makes the transition into school life as easy as possible. My school is a dual language school and my students come from diverse backgrounds. For half of them Spanish is their first language while for others this is their second and even third language they are learning. We are creating a truly diverse and multilingual classroom.

My students are enthusiastic learners who are eager to soak up every new experience school has to offer.

They are energetic and keep me young at heart with their smiles and hugs. They are hard-working and strive to do their best when presented with any challenge.

My Project

My Kindergarteners are naturally empathetic and by having a bigger fish tank they will be able to continue to care for classroom pets, further developing their understanding of caring for all living creatures.

By having Asian, African American, Caucasian and Hispanic family sets for our dollhouse my students will be able to model diversity through play.

When students see themselves represented in their surroundings they understand how important they are to our classroom community. Both of these materials will help to foster the classroom goal of teaching empathy through care of all living creatures and learning to interact with people within our school community.
