Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach kindergarten students, many of whom come from impoverished families and are English language learners. My students come to school eager to learn. My classroom provides them with an interactive learning environment where they can have hands-on experiences that provide them with the foundational skills both academically and socially to build them into confident leaders. My hope for my students is that they have a positive experience in kindergarten to set them up for future success in school and in life.
My Project
We now live in a world where my kindergarten students are required to stay socially distanced from their peers and remained at a desk for the entirety of the school day. With early literacy being such an important foundational skill, it is imperative that my students remain engaged in what they are being taught.
These materials will be used in literacy centers to provide a hands-on learning experience.
Having fun and engaging literacy materials will not only keep my students engaged in kindergarten but set them up with the skills they need to be successful throughout their school careers.
