My Students
I teach at a school on the south side of Mt.Vernon as a Resource Teacher. We are a Title I school. I truly believe, Every child has the right to learn, they may learn differently and that's ok. You just need to take one step at a time to get there."My scholars are eager to learn and want to succeed. They have aspirations and dreams of great things to come."
My scholars all have learning challenges and receive services.
But they all have the desire to learn, their energy often needs to be channeled and can be used as an advantage. Alternative seating will help to make my room a more relaxed setting.
My Project
Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. This project will provide additional flexible seating and making my room a comfortable and safe environment for learning. When scholars are more comfortable this allows them to focus for a longer period. Scholars have demonstrated improved behaviors and are less disruptive as they burn off energy.
The products that I have selected will help my scholars by giving them additional seating options to make more effective learning choices.
The bungee chair will replace the ones I purchased about 5 years ago and are in disrepair. I recently purchased two high top tables for my middle school scholars, this will allow them to sit or stand during learning and the high swivel chairs in my project will provide sensory feedback to my scholar to help them self-regulate while working .
The Scholastic Magazines for Literacy and Math will add supplemental materials for instruction that are a high interest with lower readability. As I promote scholar success this will also build self -confidence and self-esteem.
My project is designed to promote positive outcomes for my scholars' learning and behaviors. With the additional options it will help continue to build self - confidence and self - esteem, as we expand their learning strategies and knowledge in a comfortable and safe space.
