My Project
One of the most important lessons I can teach my students is the importance of lifelong learning. We can never know everything or be an expert on everything, but we can work each day to continue learning and being our best selves.
My Alumni Association membership will allow me to continue making connections with fellow alumni, including other English teachers, participate in their programming and learning opportunities, and receive the best information to help my students continue being college ready.
My university is a popular one for our students--it's closest to us, and they offer fantastic scholarship opportunities. By supporting me through this membership, you will allow me to continue connecting with the university, and the faculty and staff there, to help my students excel and fit the criteria for scholarship opportunities for their future.
Southern Miss is also well-known for educating future teachers. This membership will allow me to take advantage of the continuing education and professional development opportunities offered by the university. By engaging in PD put on by Southern Miss, I know I will continue learning about best practices and new ideas that I will then be able to use in teaching my students more effectively--particularly in understanding university expectations to convey to my dual credit students who receive both high school and college credit for my class.
