This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are an awesome group of energetic kids who want to learn!
My fantastic second graders are from a low-income community, where over 75% of students receive free or reduced-rate lunch.
Over 60% of them speak a language at home that is not English. My students are engaged and want to learn about everything. My students will not be returning to school in the fall. I will be distance teaching until at least the end of October! I need to get them resources to work at home successfully.
My Project
My students are sitting on beds, the floor, their couches; anywhere they can find a quiet place. These lap desks would be perfect for them. Students can move them around their houses, take them in the car or to other places they go in order to learn. My students look so uncomfortable when I see them through the lens of Google Meets. I am trying to provide them with everything to be successful. They will be excited to learn with these portable desks. I know that they are excited when they receive anything that makes their learning more accessible. I have students with special needs that require adjustments to their learning day. This would help them.
