Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The materials I am requesting have an engineering design focus and will give students the opportunity to question, plan, build, test, evaluate, and redesign projects based on the engineering design process.
My goal is to motivate students to collaborate, invent and then iterate creations based on scientific observations until their project meets their intended goal.
This involves developing a Growth Mindset to help them manage frustration and persevere through challenges. Students will develop public speaking skills and prove their theories through hands on evidence and cause and effect reasoning.
My students are special for many reasons. Many face personal challenges that I can not disclose here, and often feel a lack of confidence which lowers their motivation in traditional academic tasks. By engaging in novel challenges students will be more willing to make an effort to research their projects through reading and document their learning process through writing. They will push through roadblocks toward success, feel more confident in their abilities and have an improved attitude toward themselves and learning.
