I need donors to fund a minority EdTech teacher to learn more about coding. I will be educating and mentoring our urban college preparatory scholars, the Pathfinders Summer Institute will be the path.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I work at a school that is 100% free/reduced lunch. I need funds to attend the Pathfinders Summer Institute. Our middle school students take coding as an elective. The elementary students have coding as a special. This institute will allow me to be better prepared for students learning experiences. Our scholars are not engaged in coding experiences outside of school. Our students love the freedom of being creative and innovative. I am excited to capture an exposure to Computer Science.
My Project
Acquiring more knowledge will elevate my level of resources, comprehension, and application of the Scratch coding program. I would like to offer more engaging content and be a better example of interacting and progressing through the content. Attending the institute will enable me to connect with other educators, whereas we can connect our scholars. Using the Scratch program for the expressed purpose of being creative, innovative and resourceful are skills students can use in all academic areas. They deserve to have a teacher who is qualified and inspiring. My class will most likely be a place for students to develop a love for STEM.
