Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are a Title One school in a rural county in Florida. Most of the students we serve walk to school. All our students receive free lunch and many students even take bags of food home on the weekends. Many of our students are learning English as a second language and are relying on older siblings for translation, and homework help. My Kindergarten students are a mixed bag of personalities and interests. They love coming to school and learning new concepts each day.

My Project

Learning centers are student focused. Students that work at a slower place can have extra time to practice what has been taught. Students that are more advanced can use learning centers to deepen their understanding to enhance their learning. Learning centers allow students to be engaged with relevant skills for mastery. With these learning centers a group of my students will be able to practice much needed skills while it will allow me to work with another small group of children. These no prep needed centers are beneficial for my young students to take charge of their own phonetic learning.
