My kindergarten class is full of fun, eager and ready to learn, five and six year olds. I teach a full day supplemental kindergarten class so the students are with me all day. Our daily activities include learning centers two times a day, lots of reading in large and small group, free choice centers, writing (in journals and with prompts) lunch and a recess. We are really busy all day learning and having fun. We are located in Sandy, Utah.
My Project
We do lots of activities daily in learning centers. The materials I have chosen would give my class the opportunity to extend their learning. The magnetic letters and magnetic boards would give my class the opportunity to make words we are writing with letters. They would recreate these words on the magnetic boards. Another item on my wish list is a working cash register with money. We have a dramatic play center in our classroom. It has been a kitchen and has been transformed into a flower shop. Students use the area to sell each other flowers. A cash register would make this come alive with realness. Also, on my wish list is pattern block design cards and foam dice. Both these items would be used to make math activities more impacting.
