This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We are a preschool special education class located in Los Angeles, California, that serves preschool to sixth grade students. The school is located in a very low-income neighborhood, and 100% of the students receive free lunch. The school is surrounded by homeless, traffic, and the freeway. The majority of the students in the school are Hispanic, and we have several newcomers at our school who do not speak English. We also have a very high population of special education students. As a school, our goal is to prepare students who are college bound.
My students are six preschool special education students; three of them have autism and three have speech and language impairment, but they come in every day with smiles on their faces and eager to learn.
My goal as a teacher is to prepare my students for the future and encourage them to love school, now and forever.
My Project
The carpets will help my students learn and relax during class. The colorful carpet will be used in the Whole Group area. The blue carpet will be used in the cool down area where students go and relax when they feel overwhelmed.
In our preschool class the carpet is where we all sit and learn or relax.
We need a nice new clean space where we can learn together, we can dance, we can do yoga, we can do Circle Time, and many other things to help us learn and play.
