My students need to feel warm and safe at school and having a carpet in the classroom provides a comfortable place for them to be.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My school is located in Royal City, WA. Our rural community which is about 85-90 percent Hispanic. We are a very agriculturally based community. Instilling the love of learning in my students is a goal I work hard to achieve. This first step is to provide my students with a warm and safe environment.
Our school will be going through some huge changes.
During this process I would like to help keep the students focused on learning through the safe environment my classroom will provide.
My Project
Having a classroom learning carpet is a great tool to use as a central meeting area or communal space in a classroom. It provides a friendly environment where our whole class or small groups can sit and communicate. Each square on the carpet provides every student with their own space, so that they can learn to the best of their ability.
I am a new teacher so there is a lot of my list for my classroom but a carpet is one of the bigger expenses.
I chose Donorschoose.org to help me get the carpet I love and help my classroom be the safe learning environment that I am striving for. This is a great size carpet and it would be perfect for my classroom! Thank you.
