This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In my transitional kindergarten class, developmentally appropriate experiences include free choice centers. As my students choose centers to learn at, the centers must be engaging and motivating for them. In addition, there needs to be a variety of centers to meet the needs of the many young students in my class. I am requesting the Stand-Up Magnetic Design Center which is a double sided magnetic white board that is free standing with a super sturdy wood base that stores the magnetic manipulatives. This would provide me with two additional centers for my class. I can provide a different experience on each side of the magnetic white board.
The magnetic design center can provide me the opportunity to provide my students with a variety of motivating and engaging learning experiences in literacy, math, and science.
On the magnetic board, the students can write or draw using dry erase markers as they develop their fine motor skills and their prewriting skills. They can use magnetic letters, numbers, and shapes on the magnetic board as they are learning their letters, letter sounds, numbers, and shapes. There's also STEM opportunities which encourage problem solving using the magnetic board experimenting with magnetic gears, magnetic marble runs, and other magnetic objects.
