This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Every year I welcome new students to my classroom to learn a new language in a new country. My Kindergarten and First graders come from many backgrounds eager and excited to learn. Learning a new language is not always easy, but using games are fun and exciting for young children. With these games and activities, students are given the opportunity to work by themselves and with peers to help each other practicing this language.

The use of vocabulary games in my ELL classroom is almost a daily activity.

While I am working with a small group of students, my students not working with me are given an activity to work with peers, which increases social development and increases vocabulary. The headphones will allow all students according to their ELL level to listen to stories and complete activities to help develop and understand the English language independently. The games I have chosen will give my students the opportunity to practice and learn a new language.

By providing my new students fun ways of learning and practicing a new language my students will overcome fear and gain confidence in the ability to participate in everyday school activities.
