Learning By Touching

My students need exposure to a higher level of thinking through the use of hands-on activities and learning games such as KEVA sets and K'NEX sets.

My Students

My students, kindergarten through fifth grade, come into my classroom everyday excited to learn. I have students coming from various backgrounds, both culturally and economically. They all bring uniqueness and personality to our school. We are a Title One school; over ninety percent of our students receive free or reduced price lunch. With all the things going on in their lives, these students really deserve to have school be a safe haven for them where learning is fun, engaging and in an environment where they feel welcome.

My Project

The use of hands-on, building materials will reinforce detail to small and large projects. They will learn how to read instructions to construct building and vehicles. The KEVA and K'NEX building sets will be used during our center times. My students will be able to use these independently or with a partner, to help enforce skills and concepts already taught. My students will also gain more confidence as they have fun learning more about the skill.

We all know that kids of all ages love to play!

Having centers is a great way to do this, while at the same time learn and build a stronger knowledge of skills and concepts.
