Our school is a large and diverse community. Our students have varied interests and backgrounds. Our library needs to reflect the interests and passions of the students. I believe all students should see something of themselves when selecting a book. Literature is a powerful vehicle for helping children understand their homes, communities and the world. Since books provide a conduit of exposure to people, places and worlds both similar and different from our own, it makes sense to expose our children to books that embrace a diversity of cultures, interests, values, nationalities, and hues. The books selected for our project will help meet those needs.
