Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
To celebrate a successful school year filled with hard work, academic growth, and student curiosity, the classroom will transform into an immersive, beach-themed learning environment. This event is designed to be both fun and educational, reinforcing essential academic skills in reading, writing, listening, and collaboration through beach-related activities.
Students will select a grade-level appropriate book from a classroom library.
They will read independently while seated in a pool ring, on a beach towel, or under a beach umbrella to simulate a relaxing beach experience.
Students will watch an educational episode from Magic School Bus: At the Ocean. After viewing, students will participate in a structured discussion using a printable movie guide and Beach Ball Toss Game that prompts academic conversation.
Students will respond to engaging writing prompts with a beach theme. These prompts encourage narrative thinking and descriptive writing. They may choose to write on themed stationery or use sensory materials such as kinetic sand or salt trays to practice spelling key vocabulary words.
