This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My bilingual learners are not only ready to learn in two languages but ready to learn by doing. I want to bring experiential learning into my classroom and immerse my bilingual learners in an experience.

Through experiential education my bilingual learners will be encouraged to make reflections about their experience and hands on activities to develop new skills, new attitude, and a new way of thinking .

That is why I am asking for materials that will support them through the experiential process. The baking soda, Borax, food coloring, white chalk and glue will aid in the investigation of the properties of matter by dissolving everyday chemicals. The paper and plastic plates will help to build models and hold supplies. The red worms will be a part of an exploration where students will discover the critical role earthworms play in decomposing dead materials and releasing nutrients into the soil. With the baking sheets, students will then conduct a simple experiment with multiple trials to figure out if worms prefer dry or wet areas. Lastly, the paper clips, sticky tack and glue dots will play a big role in keeping the learning together.
