This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I have a group of energetic learners. They are excited about reading and writing. In my kindergarten class we do a lot of hands-on activities. My students learn by doing and working cooperatively. They enjoy playing and working with materials such as magnifying glasses, puzzles, magnets, and more. It may look as if students are just having fun, but they are actually learning valuable lessons. My students are constantly moving and growing. They are eager to share new information with their friends.
My Project
I want to improve my students fine motor skills and increase their fluency by using puzzles in literacy centers. From early childhood right through to adulthood we love to play with puzzles. We like the way they challenge our thinking and exercise our minds. Puzzles are also an important educational learning tool for toddlers and young children as they provide many skills and mental learning benefits and opportunities. Puzzles are a fun way for children to develop and refine their fine motor skills. When engaged in playing with puzzles, children are required to pick up, pinch and grasp pieces (some with small knobs, pegs or chunky pieces) and move them around, manipulating them into slots, sorting them, and fitting them into the correct places.
