Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My kindergarten students speak five languages and represent six countries!

My students are curious, energetic and love learning.

My students spend their day learning in both English and Spanish. We are a low income, dual language community school where everyone knows each other. They have built such a close community and really help one another grow as friends and learners. They do not always have all of the resources they need at home but they care so much about learning.

My Project

My students practice what they are learning everyday in small reading groups. This gives them hands-on time to practice what we have been learning.

In kindergarten, students learn to read, and in my class they do it in English and Spanish!

I am hoping to get letter stamps and Spanish file games to give my students hands-on access to learning to read. These materials would allow my students to practice learning their letters, syllables and words in a fun way that makes them excited about learning to read. Being bilingual is such a gift and I want to make this process as easy as possible for my kids. I know that if they have fun while they are learning, they will be so much more excited to practice these important skills!
