My students need a carpet that provides seating spots for easier management. Students work better in a flexible, kid-friendly space with designated pictures, labels, or markers that can identify where they can sit for learning time.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
After teaching in other grades for several years, coming back to Kindergarten has been refreshing. My students are energetic, happy to be in school, and have such a love for learning! In POD 102, we have 15 boys and 12 girls. This wonderful dynamic makes our experiences balanced and open-minded; being considerate and caring to everyone's voice in the classroom.
In this fantastic Kindergarten classroom, our experiences vary greatly.
Being mindful of these differences has opened the possibility to create a global picture of this community of young people, eager to learn from one another. I have felt a renewed love for teaching with these 27 friends I've made this year. I am excited to be able to give them a great love for learning in our classroom and everywhere they go.
My Project
Early learners need structure when they are learning through reading and play. Having a central location, away from their tables, to learn through play is really important for their development. Making that place cozy, comfortable but purposeful.
Having a carpet with designated seating spots for children is incredibly helpful and useful.
Students enjoy having a spot to stretch out their bodies during meditation and yoga, have a place to sit during a read a loud and during morning meeting, and even find place to do group or partner work. This carpet would be an integral part of our learning community.
