This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a first year teacher, this past semester has been one of ups and downs. As I’m finding my way, my students are teaching me just as much as I am teaching them. In learning together, I am getting a better understanding of what motivates them and drives their success.

By providing these items to my students, I am able to ensure a few things.

One, they are engaged, two, they are fed, even if it is just a snack, hunger can be a major distraction in a classroom, and three, they know that when they put forth their best effort, they will be rewarded. Even as adults, we look for recognition and praise. If I am able to provide these things to my students, I am planting a seed that I hope will blossom into greatness once they enter into the world, post-graduation.
