Our classroom is full of 18 adorable 1st graders! Their needs and levels vary from being able to read on a 3rd-grade level to still learning letters and sounds. They work hard to progress in reading, math, science, and social studies. They develop strong friendships with each other and work hard every day.
My students have a passion for learning and excitement for school.
They amaze me with the progress they make. Our little classroom community is a simple, yet happy one!
My Project
One of the things we focus on in first grade is life cycles of plants and animals. By giving my students these resources they will be able to explore the life cycle of a plant in a real, hands-on way. They will have the opportunity to make predictions of how their seeds will grow (based on their own observations and research), plants their own seeds, and observe their growth. From all of this evidence they will be able to formulate conclusions on how plants grow. This will be a fun, engaging way for my students to explore the scientific process while also learning about plant life cycles.
