This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The first unit of our English language arts curriculum is about our community and the things we see in our community. First graders are still at an age where they benefit from play-based learning strategies. This project will allow my students to be able to build and shape their own community while also practicing our skills.
Learning through play will allow my students to develop the vocabulary needed to be successful learners.
My students are multilingual and new to the United States. Learning through play allows them to build Tier 1 and Tier 2 vocabulary in a safe and developmentally appropriate way.
