Sitting in a tiny desk all day is boring. My students need an opportunity to move around the classroom while staying engaged in learning.
My students attend the largest public school in our county - both elementary and middle schools are combined.
Many students have free or reduced lunch. Resources are shared and I wish I could give them more as they have great attitude and are eager to learn.
My Project
I am requesting clip boards for each of my students so that they can learn around the classroom. This will enable them to take their work to our library nook, carpet, or even outside as a whole class.
The 1-minute sand timers are also needed so my students can practice their addition fluency drills. Each Friday we have an addition fluency test where they are given 1 minute to answer 20 problems. Throughout the week I would like my students to be able to practice with or without a partner. This will make it possible for them to increase their fluency in addition.
The math bingo games are being requested so that my students have an opportunity to reinforce the skills they have learned while playing a fun game. This will enable them to stay engaged in learning while having fun with their classmates during our math centers.
This project is very important because I am a first year teacher and I want my students to excel.
I do not want them to become stagnant because of limited resources available. This project will be used on a daily basis in our classroom and can be implemented immediately.
