My project needs all kinds of hands-on manipulatives for the children to be able to learn how to count, make patterns, add, subtract, and to learn colors. These manipulatives would be used in math and science. Bear blocks, links, cubes, animals, fish, and blocks would be used for the many uses to learn the basic skills that a first graders would need to learn. The sticker charts would be placed onto each desk so the child is able to learn and see all 100 numbers easily.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach first grade at a low income school, where 51 percent of the children receive a reduced or free lunch.
I am wanted to teach the children in different stations/centers throughout the day. The child would be at each station for no more than 30 minutes. I am in need of several different kinds of manipulative's for the children to learn. I am unable to buy all of the different kinds of manipulative's there are to complete the centers/stations that I would like. There would be 5-8 stations through out the room. I am in need of 2 different kinds of manipulative's at each station. These manipulative's will help teach: counting, addition, subtraction, problem-solving, patterning, colors, and fine-motor skills.
Students would use these manipulative's to finish activities and play games while learning the skills needed in first grade. Doing all of this in a 30 minute station. The children will think they are playing! Some of the manipulative's that I would like to receive would be linking blocks, bears, links, cubes, animals, fish. Anything fairly small and in all different colors.
You can help these low income students boost their math skills: counting, adding, subtracting and problem - solving.
