My Project

My students love to apply what they learn and have taken to the nascent computer science courses I have been able to bring to the school. Students are encouraged to continue their learning and have had time with outside competitions, community service opportunities, and robotics. This project set - a Meta Quest headset to run the VR test and a Lenovo Yoga 2-in-1 device to run the Unity and Unreal engines used by the leading application developers - will give students the opportunity to work in a unique field. While my course has used either Java for AP CSA or Scratch/Python for AP CSP, the extension to C#, the opportunity to incorporate design elements and test their learning through the full design process ideation will provide students with meaningful pre-career experience and give them the edge as they look to the future.

This project meets the students' interests in technology with the cutting edge software and hardware to fuse the two together for preparation for an upcoming sector within computer science.

I am so impressed by the willingness for these students to not only complete the requirements for their coursework but to take on so many additional challenges throughout the year. Our school provides Chromebooks, but due to the technological constraints of the devices, the software needed to develop the AR/VR apps just cannot run. The laptop and testing equipment output allows my CS students to truly look to the future.
