Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach a dual language first grade class in Providence, RI. Our school serves 400 students from an urban, low socioeconomic background with almost 70% coming from Hispanic households. Our class is composed of 52 students. There is a mixture of different learning styles and academic levels in our class.
My students' love and enthusiasm for learning are contagious!
They love going to school and work hard to do their best every day! They inspire us to do the best we can to support their learning and growth.
My Project
With more students attending school in person now, I want to make sure they stay safe. One way to do that, as we all know, is to keep social distance. However, It is challenging since students share materials and space.
Students can keep a safe distance from each other by having the tools they need at their tables.
This mobile storage with trays will help with this plan. Students will be able to keep their materials in a tray that they keep with them the whole time. At the end of the day, they will store the trays away. I already have a couple of these mobile storage pieces. This one will complete the set to allow every student to have their own tray. The trays are perfect to store books, writing tools, and math manipulatives for the two groups of 20-26 students who are in my classroom every day. Thank you for taking the time to read about my project.
