My students need a color printer, ink cartridges, an electric hole puncher, and a paper cutter in order to create, print, organize, and put together the pieces to build a quilt with their projects.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My second graders started the new school year with excitement and a big desire to learn. We are going to complement lessons with a creative quilt built on daily students' work. With a printer, hole puncher, and paper cutter we will be able to put together and display it for the school and parents.
My school is located in a high poverty area.
The majority of the population is African-American and Hispanic. Most of the parents are unemployed or work part-time. Language barriers is a big issue in our school. We are trying to offer both students and parents a variety of different and new ways to make the school experience memorable.
My Project
The school provides some materials for the students to work with. But we are planning on working on activities that involve more than colors and glue. We would like to create a wall, kind of like a learning quilt. We will need to cut and put together each student's portfolio.
We will create a display for the school community and the parents. We think that is a great way to work together in and out the classroom. I have requested a color printer, ink cartridges, an electric hole puncher, and a paper cutter in order to create, print, organize, and put together the pieces to build a quilt with my students' projects.
Our school embraces the Habits of Mind strategies.
We have experienced that by persisting and taking responsible risks we can go big. All it takes is a little help to make this group of students shine.
