Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

Kindergarten is the best time to build a love of reading and story telling. Kindergarten students have few choices in our school library of books that are on a beginning reading level. I have been able to provide books and now we need a place to store them.

I plan to allow students to check out books from our classroom library each Monday to read through the week at home.

Students will have a take home bag, library card, and a reading response activity each week. In order to facilitate this I need a way to display the books by reading level so that students can pick books that are of interest to them. We are also asking for cushions to use in our reading area so that students can comfortably read in class.
