The preschoolers in my class are very intelligent, independent and happy. They are always asking questions, wanting to know the "why".
During the day, they are "one big happy family." They are helping and complimenting each other throughout the day. Our class motto is "Find a way or make one."
My three and four year old scholars come to me with stories.
They grow up in neighborhoods ridden with violence, where food is not promised, and they are not sure where they are going to lay their heads.
Our Title One, turnaround school is located in an urban city. Even though they have a lot stacked against them, they are a pretty great bunch. They are always happy to see each other and happy to come to school. My scholars love to learn songs, letters, rhyming words, how to hold scissors, colors, build with blocks, and ask questions.
I pray that none of them lose their drive to want to know. The drive they have will push them and guide them to success.
My Project
Preschool scholars learn best when they are playing. They have the opportunity to use skills that they have learned in the classroom during their play. When they are using skills during play, it is more authentic. At Port Discovery students will have the opportunity to learn through play. Children, we will expand the ways they learn through innovative, fresh, interactive, playful and engaging experiences.
The donations that we are asking for will go directly to the cost of admission.
Our Title One status does not allow us to ask parents for money. The experience the scholars will have at Port Discovery will be everlasting.
