This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a Special Education teacher, I strive to make sure all students have access to the materials they need in order to be successful in the classroom and access curriculum and make progress socially and emotionally. Working with students who require special accommodations and modifications can sometimes be a challenge but most of the time is so rewarding. My students are all on the autism spectrum and require many supplies and items that the school does not have. This year I have spent a portion of all every check trying to make sure my students have what they need but am still lacking many materials. I often feel a twinge of guilt when I'm unable go have what I need for all my students to grow and thrive in the classroom.

Your donation will help me, help my students continue to grow by providing them with materials they need to access curriculum and be successful in the classroom.

My Project

These materials will be used in the classroom to give students opportunities to practice skills independently, to learn to interact with peers and continue to make academic progress. Students on the spectrum require hands on practice and multiple means of representation in order to learn and maintain skills. They also thrive when they are able to interact with material they understand or can use independently. Having file folder games, magnatiles, and many of these other materials will help student solidify skills that they have been working on throughout the school year.
