Learning and Exploring With LEGOS

Help me give my students the opportunity to explore STEAM science activities through engineering and exploring motion with STEAM Park. The World People sets will open up discussions about how families and people are similar and different.

My Students

My students are a mix of Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten students who love to learn and play. My school is over 70% reduced or free lunches. My class is filled with predominantly second language learners and also students with disabilities. They are excited to learn and love going to my classroom library.

My school has been fixture in this neighborhood for 70 years.

I attended this school myself and teach in the same classroom I was in back in 1965! The school plays a greater role than ever in the lives of the children in the neighborhood with a before school and after-school programs.

My Project

A child's most important work is play. Through play they process their experiences and make sense of the world. They learn how to socialize, explore the roles of the adults around them, and learn to interact with each other. They also learn how to regulate themselves through play, developing patience and turn taking skills.

Play is critical in the development of healthy and happy children!

Playing with these legos the students will have many opportunities to create real life scenarios, as well as fantasy play. They can process their emotions, try out different jobs, and talk about families using the little people in the World People sets. They will share and create together, expand their vocabularies, and have fun while doing it.

My students will explore science concepts like force, engineering, and movement with the vehicles and STEAM activities. They will get to design and build interesting machines too. All the while developing their language and social skills.
