Learning and Creating with Laminating

My Students

As hands-on and visual learners, students in my first grade class would benefit greatly from the Thermal Laminator and Laminating Pouches. Flashcards could be protected by lamination to be re-used, and the requested CD/Cassette Player would enhance literacy and encouragement movement.

The students are bright and creative first graders who are excited about learning.They are wonderful storytellers, artists, and mathematicians, and my goal is foster their curiosity and love of learning.

One of the ways I can do this is through the use of a Thermal Laminator and various sizes of Laminating Pouches where reading and math flashcards can be created, and artwork can be protected. My students come from a wide variety of demographic and economic backgrounds - over 40% of our students participate in the reduced or free lunch program. My school has a very supportive environment with students and teachers who are creative and focused on academics. It is slightly rural in that it is bordered by woodlands and a creek.

My Project

Our class will use the Thermal Laminator and Laminating Pouches for various projects. When kids are learning the alphabet, numbers, spelling words, basic math, animals, and countless other things, laminated flashcards can be a beneficial tool in solidifying this knowledge. We will use the 5x7 Laminating Pouches to create these reusable flashcards. Also, using the 9x11.5 Laminating Pouches, students will be able to laminate special works of art to preserve and to share with their family. They will learn to take their time and work neatly because it will be on display for everyone to see. Taking pride in ones work is a wonderful feeling and an important life lesson. Another requested item is a CD/Cassette Player. Students will improve reading while listening to Books on Tape, as they will be able to follow along with books as they listen to the Tape. We will also use the CD player to play music and song which will encourage movement and dance.

Having a Thermal Laminator and Laminating Pouches will allow students to use the same flashcards throughout the year, which will enhance their learning and memorization skills, preparing them for the next grade level.

Also, the larger laminating pouches will protect artwork, encouraging creativity knowing their artwork will be preserved. The CD/Cassette player will encourage movement and dance, as well as support literacy as they listen to Books on Tape, while following along with the book.
