Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have an energetic group of students who get to school every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day. I teach at a Title I school where the majority of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.
My students are eager to learn and try their best.
I am hoping to provide my students with what they need most! I want to make sure my students have equal access to everything they need to be successful!
My Project
I am asking for a collection of picture books that promote diversity and multiculturalism. The books I selected are not only engaging but they will also provoke meaning and discussion for my students. The titles range from diversity in gender, religion and race.
I believe it is important that my students are exposed to different people's experience in order to become empathetic and accepting.
This collection of books will be housed in my classroom. They will be used for daily read-alouds and also for the taking of my students for recreational reading. These books will touch the hearts of my students and I am hoping that hearing other people's stories will invoke a drive in them to be caring, accepting and kind.
