Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
A microwave and heating lamp will provide a safe and effective way for middle school students to explore and understand thermal energy without the risks associated with using fire. Thermal energy is an essential concept in science, and these tools will allow students to experiment with heat transfer, temperature changes, and the effects of heat on different materials in a controlled environment.
The microwave offers a safe way to heat various substances and observe how they respond to changes in temperature.
Students can investigate the relationship between time, temperature, and the energy needed to heat different materials, such as water, food, or other substances, making the concept of thermal energy more tangible and relatable.
The heating lamp will further enhance the learning experience by allowing students to explore the process of conduction, convection, and radiation in a hands-on way. They can observe how heat is transferred through direct contact with the lamp, or how it spreads through air or other materials. This tool will also provide students with an understanding of heat sources in real-world applications, such as in cooking or weather systems.
Both tools ensure a safe learning environment while providing students with the opportunity to explore thermal energy in an engaging and practical manner.
