This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I currently teach at a school wide Title I school, and as such, all children receive free breakfast and lunch. Despite the lack of resources and challenges students face on a daily basis, they are an energetic and enthusiastic group. They come to school each day eager to learn new things and apply the skills they have been taught. Due to limited funding, certain materials and resources necessary to enhance the curriculum and not available to them or to their families..

My Project

Unfortunately, due to the current distance learning format, student access to books, especially non-fiction books, is very limited. In order to allow students to spark their curiosity about STEM, they need access to quality non-fictions books. Currently, the easiest way to ensure that all students have access, is through the use of e-books. There are many e-books available for purchase, such as Hidden Figures by Margot Lee Shetterly, that would allow students a glimpse into the lives of women whose work forever changed the face of NASA and the country.
