I'm a third grade teacher of 28 students at a school in an urban neighborhood. My students love center time. Currently, I have a United States Center in which my students are learning about the 50 states. However, I have only a few world history books, and nothing for world history study during center time. Fortunately, I found a wonderful center activity called Continents of the World Activity Chest. It contains information on culture, history, and geography of all seven continents. The information is provided in an exciting way with photo cards and hand-held replicas which are incorporated with the reading and writing activities. When I'm teaching one of my reading groups, I would love for my other groups of students to have access to such awesome materials during their learning center time that will be feasible for independent and partner work.
