This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Living in the United States we can see the diversity of cultures, so it is important to teach children from a young age to learn about diversity and their community. In this case the best area to learn by playing is dramatic play! Having costumes of community helpers, they will develop the learning of the jobs in addition to learning about uniforms. Likewise, knowing what stores, businesses, and food are sold in their community and relating it to what they see in their school will make them feel welcome in the classroom. The dramatic play area is an area of many opportunities for development and learning, but it is important that children are exposed through play to learn about themselves and their community.
