My Project

Learning about numbers can be an exciting task. Our elementary school has an event where all the youngest learners come to school for a day with a parent or guardian. At this event, called The Beginning Beaver Learning Lab, parents/guardians and children rotate through different stations learning about literacy, bedtime routines, math concepts, physical play, constructive conversations, and healthy snacks. The Beginning Beaver Learning Lab has, in the past, had exceptional turnout and great reviews from parents/guardians.

At our math station, parents/guardians and students will be introduced to NumberBlocks.

These materials help students better understand the concepts of ones, tens, and eventually hundreds. A show on YouTube utilizes these materials to reinforce learning. NumberBlocks are also used at school to strengthen the home-school connection. Having NumberBlocks to send home with the families helps to encourage learning. Our hope is that adults and students will sit together and have conversations about the math concepts as the child is forming them.
