Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach at a low income school in Phoenix, Arizona. My students come from various backgrounds. Every student in my classroom is developing his or her skills in speaking, reading and writing. Many of these children are faced with challenging situations in their homes, but even with the adversities they face, these children are highly motivated 6 and 7 year olds.
My students get very excited when they are given new books to read.
Getting these books will give my students the opportunity to be exposed to both science and nature through fun and exciting new books.
My Project
My students are not exposed to a lot of real-life experiences in their day to day lives with their families. Providing my students with these books will allow them to experience the world around them through books.
Reading these books will increase their vocabulary and give them new and exciting topics to talk about and write about.
My student's eyes light up when they begin learning about intriguing new topics.
Students may find a special interest in a specific topic by being exposed to it through these books encouraging them to choose more books on the same subject for a deeper understanding.
