Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a teacher in a school that services students who come from low income, working-class families that live in or close to one of Los Angeles' low income housing complexes.
My students are some of the most creative 1st graders you will ever meet.
They are smart, enthusiastic learners who enjoy learning and listening to stories read to them. They love to come to school to absorb as much knowledge as possible to help them prepare for their future.
My Project
How many times have you heard that sitting a child in front of a television will keep them entertained for hours? Well, I would like to keep my students entertained with a media they enjoy, however my entertainment will be with educational math DVDs. My students will definitely not be sitting in front of the DVD player for hours on end. My students need as much small group instruction as they can get. In order to do this, I work in small groups and would like to ensure the independent center is getting educational learning time. With these DVD players and educational DVDs I can be assured that my students will learn and reinforce lessons in a fun and entertaining manner. These DVD players will help reinforce number value, money identification and counting. A portable DVD player will engage my students during independent learning center times.
Technology has touched us in almost every aspect of life, so it is not surprising that children love technology as well.
Having these DVD players will ensure that my students are touched by technology and will aide them in being successful in math and financial literacy.
