My students need to see how learning is relative to real life, and by providing them with Scholastic magazines they can put their knowledge into action and see where it applies to living concepts!
My students are amazing, one-of-a-kind thinkers that are constantly looking for new ways to absorb information and share their knowledge with others. Our time at school is spent diving deep into new concepts, exploring a wide range of skills before mastery, and applying these new abilities to real-world problems and scenarios.
We are a STEM school that emphasizes critical thinking, engineering, thought processes, and we are always striving to improve.
Students are encouraged to think outside the box, create while they learn, and above all, explain their thinking to others.
My Project
Bringing the real-world into the classroom is a challenge for many educators. Making learning meaningful again is easy with Scholastic's content-rich articles full of vocabulary, comprehension questions, life applications, and vibrant pictures.
Using these magazines in the classroom means my students can read and learn about current events while making cross-curricular connections in literacy skills, math, science, and social studies, not to mention reading!
Students can read about world news while practicing fluency and decoding skills. They can learn to debate hot topics while becoming fluent speakers. Building connections between fact and fiction has never been easier with the exposure to literature and non-fiction articles all in one place.
