Learning About Keeping Ourselves Healthy

Help me give my students a great learning trip about their community and staying healthy.

My Students

My students are very eager learners. They love to learn about new topics. They are at the age that they are beginning to read to learn instead of learning to read. They love to share what they learn with their friends and their teachers.

They love to read non-fiction books about science and the world around them.

They are excited every time they are able to share a new fact they have learned. It is exciting every day to see their eyes light up as they learn more.

My Project

Every year we are invited to the hospital for a special program provided by The Weber County Medical Alliance. The program teaches about the hospital, the workers there, and how to stay healthy.

We love to provide the opportunity to our children because it allows them to learn about a place in the community and what happens there.

The program is free but we have to provide the money for the busing for the students to get there. I also included some book for our classroom library about staying healthy and community workers to enhance our Social Studies curriculum and provide some more non-fiction reading for the students.

This has been one of the highlight field trips for the children. They learn about germs, their bones, and how to keep their hearts and bodies healthy.
