My students are in a self-contained Pre-Kindergarten classroom. Most of my students have Autism or Down Syndrome. My students are in an early intervention program to provide fine motor, gross motor, pre-academic, and communication skills. We integrate with typical peers during recess.
My students learn best with hands-on-experiences and by observing live animals, touching life-like objects, and reading stories.
They come to school each day ready to learn and grow both personally and academically. They, truly are my inspiration!
My students need live ants, caterpillars, ladybugs, and a tadpole to learn about the insects and amphibians. My students need objects and stories that go along with these animals to enhance their learning.
My Project
My students have difficulty with communication and learning new vocabulary. This project will be able to enhance their communication and get them excited about learning through live animals, books, and life-like objects.
My students will have hands-on-experiences of what insects are and be able to observe how they grow and live.
They will be able to watch a caterpillar turn into a butterfly, read about it and touch objects that go along with each stage. My students will be able to watch how ants make their home, read about, sing songs that go along with it, and touch life-like ants. My students will be able to play with the objects during centers to and show what they have learned.
