Students don't always enjoy learning about history and civics, whether it's current or past history. However, current events or historical events in Junior Scholastic Magazine are written in a way that engages and intrigues students and makes them want to research more.
"Junior Scholastic makes current events relevant to students and builds the skills they need most.
Every issue covers today's most important news stories with on-level nonfiction that builds knowledge in American and world history, geography, economics, and civics. Each informational text is supported by close-reading questions and online skills activities that prepare students for the types of questions they'll encounter on Social Studies."
Due to budget cuts, my district can not afford to purchase these resources for my classroom. I already spend several hundred dollars a year on supplies for my students. Most of my students are from low income families, and all of my students receive free breakfast and lunch. Please consider helping my students get this wonderful resource.
