My Students
I care, you care, we all care for where the wild things are.
Hello and thank you for reading my proposal.
I currently teach seventy-two English Language Learners whose enthusiasm and boundless energy keep me on my toes. They are bright, energetic, and eager to learn. And when it comes to science, there's an endless thirst for classroom hands-on activities. I want to tap into that enthusiasm with a project that teaches them to be stewards of the earth.
My Project
Using the Gems Terrarium Habitats Kit, moss, and bottle experiment book, my students will build terrariums. They will care for them, and in so doing, learn that a terrarium is a small example of the bigger world we live in. And this bigger world is filled with plants, animals, and ecosystems that need their care.
It is my hope that my students will fall in love with nature, and in turn understand the importance of caring for our environment and its animals.
Building awareness for the environment is difficult if students are not taught about its importance in a fun and exciting manner. But with your support, I will help my students understand their role in creating a balanced and healthy world.
