This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Help open the world of reading to eager young minds! My students want to understand that reading impacts around the world. Our resources are limited and this leaves my students at a disadvantage when developing their understanding of the reading world around them.
My students are sixth grade English language learners.
Their curiosity and hunger for knowledge are tremendous. The majority of my students learn best through hands-on applications of the curriculum standards. They are social, enjoy working in group activities, and are excited about reading to facilitate their learning. They attend an inner-city school where they face real-life challenges in the community.
My Project
My students need a laptop so that they can explore websites that promote learning how to count and budget money, know the value of money and recognize the importance of being financially knowledgeable. These kid friendly websites can reinforce concepts that I teach in a fun and entertaining manner. In addition to the use of the websites, the computers can be used to make flash cards, monthly budgets, and research about job salaries, money saving tips so that my students can practice recognizing and knowing the value of money and money budgeting.
